I’m sure I’m not the first person who’s told you this: The election this year is critically important, and it’s absolutely essential that we make sure voting is safe, secure and accessible for everyone. That’s especially true in the Deep South – including my home state, Mississippi – where access to the ballot was for a long time not granted to all voters and where other barriers to voting still remain.

That’s why I’m joining the Southern Poverty Law Center this Thursday, October 8, in a Virtual Phone Bank to support voting rights in the Deep South – and I want you to be there, too.

*The Virtual Phone Bank will be open from 3-8 p.m. Eastern Time to allow for the maximum number of people to join! Participants are encouraged to call at their convenience.

We will be calling voters in Georgia to spread the word about how they can request an absentee ballot. Georgia voters need no excuse to vote absentee, and this year, for the first time, they can submit their absentee ballot application online.

To join, all you’ll need is a phone and an internet connection. Our Virtual Phone Bank will provide you with a complete script, the names and phone numbers of voters, and easy-to-follow instructions to record the results of your conversation.

I am committing to making 50 phone calls during Thursday’s Virtual Phone Bank. How many will you make?
