"House Judiciary panel to dive into gun debate upon return" -- Roll Call, September 3, 2019

This week, the House Judiciary Committee is advancing three different gun control measures to ban high-capacity magazines, prevent people deemed a risk to safety from obtaining a firearm, and ban people convicted of a hate crime from possessing guns.

Sign on if you agree we need to take these commonsense steps to end the gun violence epidemic in America.

John --

Many people have forgotten that high capacity magazines were banned for ten years from 1994 to 2004. This proves that the gun safety measures that Republicans often deem "too partisan" are not only realistic but have been laws before.

Now, the House Judiciary Committee is voting on three pieces of legislation, including a universal ban on high capacity magazines -- a measure that experts agree will help prevent mass shootings. After the latest spate of gun violence in Texas, it's clear these reforms are urgently needed.

So far, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and President Donald Trump have made zero commitments to actually passing these reforms. We have to keep the pressure on if we're going to hold the GOP accountable and pass meaningful gun reform.

John, can you take the next step? If you agree that we should be doing everything possible to combat the gun violence epidemic in our country, please add your name next to Suzan's today.

Earlier this year, Suzan and the House majority acted on the will of the people by passing universal background checks and banning people convicted of domestic violence from owning a firearm. But the fight for commonsense gun reform isn't over as long as Trump and McConnell stay beholden to the NRA.

Preventing gun violence is not a partisan issue. No matter where we live or whom we vote for, we all want our children to be safe when they go to school, we want to feel secure in public spaces, and we want to know that a gun could never fall into the wrong hands.

Help us fight back. Suzan is doing all she can to pass meaningful gun reform in the House. Join Suzan and add your name if you agree we need gun violence prevention measures now.
