The gun lobby holds Congress hostage.

That's why when I ran for office, I promised to shut my door to the NRA. Politicians should be standing up for the safety of our citizens -- not the NRA and its bank account.

I want to know what you think about this critical issue, team: Do you agree Congress should shut its doors to the gun lobby?

Every year, guns kill more than 30,000 Americans. Let's be clear on one thing: It doesn't have to be this way.

Universal background checks, assault weapons bans, closing the gun show loophole, creating gun buyback programs, and banning gun purchases for convicted domestic abusers are all proven to reduce gun violence.

Smart, effective gun laws can save lives -- But only if our leaders take a stand. Can you share your thoughts on gun reform with me?

Thanks for speaking out,
