John,
We’re watching the news unfold in Washington, knowing that future generations will judge us by the actions we take in this moment with attention to the care we show for each other.
It’s a heavy moment with many uncertainties, but we must steady ourselves and stop this alarming outbreak in the Senate and White House before it gets any worse. This pandemic is still spreading quickly and we must stay vigilant. We need to come together in a steady spirit of endurance to bring our society back from the downward spiral of chaos that this administration caused.
While Mitch McConnell has agreed to suspend the full Senate, he’s demanding that the Senate Judiciary Committee return on Oct. 12 to continue the rushed, illegitimate confirmation process for Judge Amy Coney Barrett – despite the fact that three Senators on the Judiciary committee have tested positive for COVID-19.
We need to put care of all above political theater and suspend all Senate committee hearings in the midst of this coronavirus outbreak in the Capitol.
Our demands for Mitch McConnell include:
The condition of this country requires our movement to be sober and clear about where we are — and to steady ourselves and prepare the people power needed for the transitions ahead.
Thank you for speaking out.
