I need to talk to you about something very serious for a moment: Foreign adversaries are once again running disinformation campaigns to influence the outcome of our democratic elections.

Inflammatory propaganda, false news stories, deepfake videos -- they're all threats to our country.

I have dedicated my entire adult life to the protection of this nation. In the Navy, I trained and qualified as a senior electronic warfare evaluator and mission commander to identify the real from the fake. I understand the damage these psychological operations can have on American democracy.

My opponent, Matt Gaetz, on the other hand does not take this threat seriously and doesn't believe it merits swift and severe action from Congress. In fact, he's spread fake material himself . Why? Because it doesn't personally hurt him.

So this week, my campaign made a tough decision and set out to teach Matt Gaetz a lesson. We wanted to show him just how sophisticated and dangerous deepfake technology really is. So... we created a deepfake video of Matt Gaetz.

As a veteran of the Cold War, I understand the damage these operations can have on communities and governments.

This is not a decision we came to lightly. Our campaign's hand has been forced because our congressman's apathy has left our entire country vulnerable.

If you think our video is dangerous, you're right -- if this is what we can do, imagine what Vladimir Putin and the full power of the Russian government can do to us.

Someone needs to stand up and warn people of the dangers we're facing, someone needs to lead with honor and integrity -- someone needs to hold Matt Gaetz accountable for his complacency.
