Senator Chuck Schumer is ready for a fight: As Politico reports, he’s “set up a vote on legislation that would block the Justice Department from supporting litigation to overturn Obamacare.”
But Mitch McConnell and the GOP are buckling down to fulfill their promise of repealing the individual mandate that would strip 20 million Americans of their health care -- after all, their latest Supreme Court nominee has publicly criticized Chief Justice Roberts’ 2012 decision that saved the law.
Schumer’s decision to protect Obamacare in this way is huge, as it will force Republican senators to take a roll call vote less than a month before Election Day.
However, the GOP has what could be its trump card: The big bucks, with millions of dollars coming from dark money alone.
