Friends -- This week, the legislature convened a special session to address issues related to COVID-19 and they hit the ground running. Of 79 prefiled bills, which you can view here [[link removed]] , there are more than 30 that relate to emergency orders and/or health epidemics.



HCR9 [[link removed]] , a resolution introduced by Speaker of the House Clay Schexnayder would remove Governor Edward's ability to renew the COVID-19 public health emergency. (Click for the "Digest" or summary) [[link removed]]



According to GOHSEP Director Gen. Jim Waskom, Louisiana is likely to lose billions in emergency funding, close food banks, lose access to COVID surge testing, lose FEMA hurricane relief and more if this passes the State Senate. The truth is, Louisiana’s leaders are working with the White House to protect our families from COVID-19 and they have received praise from the White House. The legislature would rather believe the myths than admit the measures we've taken have saved lives

Louisiana's economy is completely closed, while other states have their economies open. FALSE.

If more people get COVID, it helps us reach herd immunity faster. FALSE.
