This week at CBPP, we focused on the economy, health, food assistance, and poverty and inequality.

• On the economy, we updated our fact sheet noting that struggling families and the economy need robust, bipartisan COVID relief. Robert Greenstein stated that a new relief proposal from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is well designed and urgently needed. Chad Stone analyzed new data showing that job-market improvements are slowing and the jobs hole remains deep. We also updated our backgrounder on how many weeks of unemployment compensation are available.
• On health, Jessica Schubel explained how a lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act threatens disruption and loss of protection for tens of millions of Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries.
• On food assistance, we updated our fact sheet explaining how states are using new flexibility in SNAP to respond to COVID-19 challenges.
• On poverty and inequality, we updated our tracker of the COVID-19 recession’s effects on food, housing, and employment hardships.
