Dear John,

Today marks the start of National Suicide Prevention Week. At the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) and the Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence (Ed Fund), we know that suicide is a public health crisis in the United States. We also know that firearms play a large role in this crisis.

An average of 20,000 people die by firearm suicide each year - over 60 people every single day. These deaths often go unreported and unacknowledged. Firearm suicide IS gun violence. In fact, suicide is the leading form of gun violence, and we must treat it with the urgency it deserves.

To address this epidemic, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new Prevent Firearm Suicide website ([link removed]). The site explores a multilevel approach for suicide prevention and addresses how reducing access to firearms can save lives. Prevent Firearm Suicide also provides general facts, statistics, frequently asked questions about firearm suicide, a map detailing state-specific firearm suicide facts, and a resources tab for those seeking more information.

At CSGV and the Ed Fund, we know that reducing access to firearms when individuals are suicidal has the potential to save lives, and it is because of your continued support that our team was able to create this invaluable resource.

In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Week and the Prevent Firearm Suicide website, please make a donation today ([link removed]). With your help, we can prevent firearm suicide. With your help, we can make gun violence rare and abnormal.

Thank you,

Josh Horwitz
