In a stunning reversal of the decision made at the beginning of September, the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) and its parent agency, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced this week, that they would immediately be canceling most of their planned cuts to bus service in and around Baltimore City.

Today, the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) is a paved bicycle trail used for fun and for commuting across Northern Virginia. Of course, the Washington & Old Dominion was originally a railroad — one with a long and convoluted history that helped form communities along it including Dunn Loring, Reston, Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn.
Voters will choose an at-large member of the DC Council in November to replace David Grosso, who is not running for re-election. The Greater Greater Washington Elections Committee recommends voters choose Ed Lazere and Democratic nominee Robert White, and we also think very highly of Christina Henderson.
