Secretary of State Alex Padilla talks with CFT President Jeff Freitas on why this election will be safe and secure
With ballots set to be mailed to every California registered voter next week, this week Secretary of State Alex Padilla joined CFT President Jeff Freitas on his weekly Facebook broadcast to discuss how California's upcoming election will be safe and secure.
In the interview Secretary Padilla does a great job explaining how his office has adapted to the new realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, making sure that in-person voting is safe and that mail in ballots are secure.
He also shared details about California’s new ballot tracking tool called “Where’s My Ballot?”, a new way for voters to track and receive notifications on the status of their vote-by-mail ballot.
Watch and share the interview on CFT’s Facebook page.
The CFT voter guide is now live online
While ballots are set to arrive in homes next week, now would be a great time to review the CFT Voter Guide. The guide contains voting recommendations for both statewide measures and candidates for local and state offices.

AFT President Randi Weingarten launches national
#AFTVotes bus tour in California
This week AFT President Randi Weingarten, Secretary-Treasurer Fedrick Ingram, and Executive Vice President Evelyn DeJesus launched a national get-out-the-vote bus tour starting in Southern California. As part of the kick off, the AFT leadership attended a Prop. 15 car caravan and rally at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo along with United Teachers Los Angeles. The goal of the bus tour is to turn out AFT members across the country to vote on national, state, and local priorities, such as Prop. 15.
During the bus tour launch Randi, Fed, and Evelyn also got a chance to meet – via zoom – CFT local leaders whose communities have been impacted by the recent fires.
