Introducing VoteSmartNV: General Election Edition! |
|
Friend. Summer has come and passed. Several months have gone so fast. Consider this your wake-up call that September has officially ended! We’ve got a general election coming up and you’ll be getting your ballot in the mail within the coming week (TODAY for Washoe County & Oct 7th for Clark). That’s why we’ve relaunched our 2020 VoteSmartNV nonpartisan voter guide just in time to help you make informed choices for the general election! This easy-to-use, online resource compiles information and survey responses of each candidate running for various offices across the state. It includes descriptions of each office, and links to the website and social media accounts of each candidate to find more information. It has now been updated to break down each of the five Ballot Questions on your ballot this year and provide the most up-to-date information about how to vote by mail, drop off your ballot, or vote in-person at any vote center in your county of residence. It’s your one-stop-shop for informing yourself before returning your ballot. CLICK HERE to see who's who on YOUR ballot! It is important to note that the Institute for a Progressive Nevada DOES NOT ENDORSE! VoteSmartNV is a non-partisan website that lists every candidate's information equally. We created this in an effort to have all the candidate information in one convenient location. But before you dive head-first into your candidate research, ask yourself: “Is my voter registration up-to-date at my current address?” If you can’t confidently answer ‘YES’ to that question, go immediately to RegisterNevada and register to vote or update your current registration online! DO NOT WAIT - the last day to register or update your registration and still receive a mail-in ballot is Thursday, October 15th. After that, you will have to register in-person at your vote-center of choice or by provisional ballot only if you register online. Skip the hassle, and update your registration TODAY! Make sure that your phone number and email address on your voter registration are current so the election department can more easily contact you. Finally, make sure you have a plan to vote early! Early Voting runs from October 17-30th, and Election Day is November 3rd. Find your nearest vote center schedule and locations in Clark or Washoe County on our website. Happy voting season, Annette Magnus P.S. Please share VoteSmartNV! We know that the more information a voter has the more likely they are to actually go vote. Share on Facebook and on Twitter. P.S.S. Voting Pro-Tip: If you have already received your Sample Ballot by mail or electronically, use VoteSmartNV to start researching the candidates in each contest on your ballot and make notes of your choices. That way, as soon as you get your real ballot, you can simply fill it in and cast your vote early! |
