Hi there --
We started Run for Something in part because we were so, so, so fed up with Republicans collecting elected seats like spare change. For decades, the GOP has run a candidate training camp directly though city councils, school boards, and state legislatures -- and it's worked. Now we're taking back those seats, one fired-up young progressive at a time.
But here's the thing: with their grip on state legislatures, Republicans have also drawn the district lines for the last few decades. And they're terrified that we're finally going to win enough seats in state houses to put a stop to that in 2020.
Show 'em they're right to be scared -- chip in to help recruit and elect progressives to state houses who can stand firm on drawing fair district lines.
I'm not just talking a big game here. Karl Rove -- yes, that Karl Rove -- recently wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, explaining how state legislative races in 16 states could determine House control for the next decade.
Sure, he's trying to fire up his big, angry, check-writing base, but he's also right. We have to win those races and more. Luckily, state legislative races aren't necessarily massively expensive. A progressive candidate can win just by putting in the work of talking to more voters.
But first they need to get in the race -- which is where we come in. Make your first donation to Run for Something today to recruit and elect the people standing between us and ten more years of GOP rule.
