Sign the petition to Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsay Graham

 Dear John,

Judge Amy Coney Barrett is President Trump's Supreme Court nominee to fill the vacancy on the court left by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Judge Barrett is scheduled to go before the Senate Judiciary Committee for a hearing during the week of October 12. This is the same committee Judge Barrett went before in 2017 when her religious faith came under attack, and Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) is the chairman of this committee.

Three years ago, Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) attacked Judge Barrett's religious faith during her Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. Judge Barrett was being considered as President Trump's nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Why is it that so many of us on this side have this very uncomfortable feeling that, you know, dogma and law are two different things, and I think whatever religion is, it has its own dogma. The law is totally different, and I think in your case, professor, when I read your speeches, the conclusion one draws is that the dogma lives loudly within you.

It is unconstitutional for senators to raise questions about a judicial nominee's religious faith or to raise questions about the nominee's practice of her constitutionally-protected freedom of religious expression.
