That was the incredibly simple, incredibly powerful conclusion drawn by The Economist in the aftermath of the 2016 election.
Even Republicans agree that increased access to the ballot box would benefit progressives -- Trump himself has said that if voting levels increased significantly enough, “you would never have a Republican elected in this country again.”
But there are countless obstacles that keep American citizens from voting -- not the least of which being that millions of eligible adults aren’t even registered to vote.
Our Chair, Rep. Grace Meng, has backed a potential solution to this problem: automatic voter registration. It’s a solution that 17 states and the District of Columbia have already approved. But we’re demanding automatic voter registration be implemented on a national level in order to protect our democracy and make the voices of the people heard all across the country. Are you with us?
