Yesterday, the PA House canceled session after a GOP member, Rep. Paul Schemel, tested positive for COVID-19. I was present at the Capitol Tuesday for a Judiciary Committee meeting, where I wore my mask the entire time. However, I had prolonged interaction with Rep. Schemel in the elevator and a 20-minute conversation outside of the elevator. As a result, I have gone into quarantine and will be receiving a COVID-19 test in the next few days.
This comes after another Republican member, Andrew Lewis, tested positive for COVID back in May and kept it a secret from Democrats for an ENTIRE WEEK as Republican members self-quarantined, putting hundreds of legislators, staff, and families in grave danger.
This comes after months of continuing to see Republican legislators walk the halls of the Capitol without masks, with some even bragging about it. Their cavalier attitude toward basic precautions underscores how little they care about the health and safety of others.
They are putting our lives at risk and we need to vote them OUT.
This is who currently controls our state legislature. And in the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic we can expect them to do what they’ve always done—neglect the needs and suffering of ordinary people.
If you believe that our state deserves better, then please invest in winning the PA House, where your money will go exponentially farther than contributions to national races.
We need to flip the PA House in November to fight for our most vulnerable when the stakes have never been higher. And I need your help to make it happen.
