This September we showed the world that WE CAN #TURNITAROUND


During the UN General Assembly, millions of people everywhere took action, learned, shared solutions and engaged with the community to show the world we can #TurnItAround in the right direction!
 

Here are some of the highlights

Over 42 million people mobilized during the Global Week to #Act4SDGs to #TurnItAround

Together with all of you who shared and joinedmore than 42 MILLION people from 700 organizations in more than 160 countries and 870 cities around the world joined the Global Week to #ACT4SDGs to #TurnItAround and helped make this a turning point for people and the planet.

Two sides of the turning point visualized through Uğur Gallenkuş series

Together with award-winning visual artist Uğur Gallenkuş and creative agencies, a series of powerful images showing the two sides of this turning point for people and the planet have been shared by thousands of people on social media and seen on screens in all major German cities, serving as powerful conversation starters to help us visualize what we NO longer want, from gender-based violence to polluted cities, and how our world could look like when we #TurnItAround.

Leaders joined the call to turn it around

Leaders and activists from all over the world and across sectors created a video message, mobilizing their networks and followers to take action and join the Global Week to Act4SDGs with the aim of making it a turning point for people and the planet.

Almost a million people engaged in the virtual conversations with emerging voices and world leaders at the #SDGActionZone

The SDG Action Zone featured 268 speakers (63% female, 35% male 2% non-binary speakers). Featured speakers included Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, social entrepreneurs and business leaders like Sal Kahn, founder of Khan Academy and Brian Wong, Founder of Alibaba Global Initiatives; creatives like YouTuber Louis Cole, actress Cecilia Suarez, singer Yemi Alade, political leaders such as Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleatf former president of Liberia and first female head of state in Africa; athletes including footballer Mohamed Salah; SDG advocates including Dia Mirza and Richard Curtis.

The SDG Action Zone was viewed by over 16 thousand people from around the world and reached over 90 million people through approximately 800 thousand people actively engaged on social media, generating over 450 million impressions.

1 million voices for the future we want to mark the UN’s 75th anniversary

Over 1 million people have taken the one-minute survey in all UN Countries and more than 1,000 dialogues have been held in 82 countries across the world, revealing a strong call for action on inequalities and climate change, as well as greater global solidarity. 50,000 people in 50 countries also took part in independent polling by Edelman and the Pew Research Center, and artificial intelligence analysis of social and traditional media was conducted in 70 countries.
