President Donald Trump tweeted Thursday night that he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19.
Both had been in contact with senior advisor Hope Hicks, who tested positive after traveling with the Trumps to Minnesota and Cleveland, Ohio, for the presidential debate.

Dr. Sean Conley, a U.S. Navy commander who serves as the physician to the president, released the following statement with the permission of the president and first lady:
“This evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence."

** Rejecting QAnon

Today, the House votes on H. Res. 1154, which condemns QAnon and rejects the conspiracy theories it promotes.
The resolution would also condemn all groups - from the far left to the far right - that contribute to the spread of unfounded conspiracy theories and encourage Americans to destroy public and private property and attack law enforcement officers.
Those in favor of the resolution argue that the conspiracies promoted by QAnon - which are growing more prominent in political discourse - are undermining public trust in America’s institutions and in some cases have inspired violent plots by followers.
Those opposed say that while the resolution may be well-intended, the House passing a non-binding resolution to condemn QAnon probably won’t have a meaningful impact in tamping down the movement’s conspiracy theories. It could also have the opposite of its intended effect by raising awareness of QAnon and driving more followers to it.

** Time to Revisit - and Repeal - DACA?

Since President Barack Obama signed the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) executive order in 2012, nearly 826,000 people have been accepted into the program. The policy was meant to protect unauthorized immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as minors – known as "Dreamers" – from deportation.
Between 2012 and March 2020, 825,998 people were approved to participate in the DACA program for at least two years. More than half of the cases - 472,287 - were approved in the first two years of the program. In contrast, in 2018 and 2019, only 26,173 new DACA applicants were approved.
In April 2018, President Trump tried to shutter the program. In June 2020, however, the Supreme Court issued a decision in Department of Homeland Security v. Regents of the University of California which held that the Trump administration’s effort to end DACA was “arbitrary and capricious” and blocked the policy change.
The decision did not weigh in on the merits of DACA, and a new court - with Justice Amy Coney Barrett ([link removed]) - could rule in favor of ending the program.
