Friend,
Election Day is just 32 days away -- and 750,000 Floridians may be denied their right to vote.
A law requiring Floridians with felony convictions to pay fines before they can vote was recently upheld by the Supreme Court. As Justice Sotomayor wrote in her scathing dissent, it amounts to a modern-day poll tax that "prevents thousands of otherwise eligible voters from participating ... simply because they are poor."
Republicans' efforts to suppress the vote aren't new, and neither is the concept of a poll tax. The NDRC is working to increase voting access, block GOP attempts to suppress the vote, and pressure Republicans to fully fund our elections. Can you make a gift today?
750,000 voters in this critical swing state could be denied their right to vote due to a decision Sotomayor said "continues a trend of condoning disfranchisement."
We've committed to the fight to protect the vote in the 2020 election because it's the first step to a fair redistricting process in 2021.

-- Team NDRC
Since 2017, the NDRC has executed a comprehensive redistricting strategy that shifts the redistricting power, creating fair districts where Democrats can compete. Our victories have been made possible by our strong community of grassroots supporters. But 2020 will be our most important -- and toughest -- year yet. It's the last year before redistricting, which means it's our last chance to elect the Democrats we trust to fight for fair maps.
