October has started and it is looking to be a very busy winter for the Fawcett Society. From Equal Pay Day, to our AGM, to our work on smashing stereotypes and the impact of Coronavirus, we've got a lot coming up.
We've launched some very exciting new Equal Power training workshops. From networking to standing as a candidate, to keeping politically active women safe online, these free workshops work across the different parties to provide important insight into how you can get involved. Sign up for one (or all) of them and receive the training you need to make your voice heard.
Equal Power at Conservative Party conference
We're hosting an Equal Power event next week at the Conservative Party virtual conference. Virginia Crosbie, Conservative MP for Ynys Môn; Fleur Butler, Chairman of the Conservative Women's Organisations (CWO); and Sam Smethers, Fawcett's Chief Executive will be opening the session and reflection on why representation matters. Then two of our partner charities will be running mini trainings to help women with articulating why they are standing for selection and election and how to keep safe online as a politically active women. Sign up now.
Catch up on our conversation with Helen Lewis
Last week we hosted a fantastic lunchtime event with journalist and author Helen Lewis. We were treated to extracts from her book, Difficult Women, as well as a discussion on the characters she chose and why they are so important in the history of feminism. If you missed out, we've put the whole discussion online.
We're hiring - could you be our new Chief Executive?
After four fantastic years at the helm, our Chief Executive Sam will be stepping down in December and we're looking for someone new to take her place. You'd need to be an established leader with a strong understanding of gender equality and the drive and energy to lead a small but busy team. Closing date is Friday 16 October - please direct all inquiries to Prospectus.
In solidarity and determination, The Fawcett Society Team
