This week we honour the life of Labor’s first female minister Susan Ryan. Susan is deeply missed by the Labor community in Australia. Vale Susan Ryan, AO.

Susan Ryan, you are missed.

Now to the ridiculous. Michael McCormack surprises us all, yet again. But not in a good way. Also this week, millions of Australians are re-setting their family budgets as JobKeeper and JobSeeker rollback starts without a jobs plan in place.

2 stories from the week

Two stories this week worth mentioning include the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. There are six clear recommendations for the Federal government to improve quality of life for those in care and a clear judgement of Morrison’s insufficient response to Covid. And don’t we remember Scott Morrison memorably stating in August that the issue was the pre-existing needs of the residents: “I mean, effectively, sadly, that when people are going into aged care now, families know that they're effectively engaging in a pre-palliative care.”

Secondly, it’s worth revisiting the JobReady package before the Senate. At a time when Australia’s Universities and the education of our future generations hang in the balance Scott Morrison’s government are playing culture wars. Surely this is not the time.

1 insider story that you might have missed

Mediawatch did a great summary of Dan Disinformation campaigning. The QUT Research is fascinating and scary, here is the detail

P.S. John, we can’t risk a snap back to the Liberal agenda of cutting services, suppressing wages and undermining job security. Australia needs a plan for the recovery where no one is held back or left behind. We need your help to protect our society from the Liberals. Will you chip in $5 to help stop the Liberals?
