At 29 years old, she became the first African-American woman on the 12th Judicial Court in North Carolina. She also became the first African-American woman to serve on the North Carolina Supreme Court in 2006. And in 2014, she was appointed to serve on the United States Commission on Civil Rights where she fought for environmental justice for North Carolinians against coal corporations.

And now she’s running to represent North Carolina’s 8th District in Congress to continue her fight for environmental justice — *and we need to ensure that she’s elected.*

Justice Timmons-Goodson is a true progressive champion, and one that has put environmental justice at the forefront of her campaign. She knows that every North Carolinian, regardless of ZIP code, deserves equal access to clean air and drinking water.

She will also work hard to ensure that North Carolina, and America as a whole, invests in the clean energy economy, supports sustainable infrastructure, and develops conservation projects. She has also promised to specifically invest in the areas hit hardest by corporate pollution which are disproportionately communities of color and low-income communities.
