We all know how important it is to defeat Donald Trump and restore decency and honesty to the White House by electing Joe Biden, as well as sending Democrats to Congress who will work with him to stand up for the middle class and working families. But we can’t forget that local elections matter too, and today we are highlighting some of the most exciting local and county candidates running for office right now in our state.

Kent Davis and John Dawson for Raritan Township Council

Kent Davis and John Dawson are running to give Raritan a new voice in local leadership. Kent is a Healthcare IT Solutions Architect and John is a former Marine Corps Officer and Airforce Pilot with the National Guard. They both volunteer with various organizations throughout the community and are raising their families in Raritan.
Jessica Almeida and Christy Lazarow for West Caldwell Township Council

Jessica Almeida and Christy Lazarow are running to be “A Different Voice” for West Caldwell. The Almeida/Lazarow team is fighting to bring transparency, smart development and a thriving business district to West Caldwell. They are both moms that are raising their children in town. Jessica is a Litigation Attorney and Christy is a Teacher.
Theresa Bender Chapman for Warren County Commissioner

Theresa Bender Chapman is a community advocate that is the President of a local group fighting against destructive development in Warren County that doesn’t benefit residents. She believes that Warren County needs someone that will fight to attract industry that will improve the quality of life and wages of residents and ensure that families aren’t living paycheck to paycheck.
Cary Amaro for Morris County Commissioner

Cary Amaro is running for Freeholder to represent the interests of all of Morris County. Amaro has worked for over 15 years in Financial Management and Operational Accounting and knows the importance of an effective budget. Her background in finance will make her a valuable asset to the people of Morris County on the Freeholder Board.
Stephen Dicht for Atlantic County Surrogate

Stephen Dicht is an Attorney, small business owner and community advocate in Atlantic County. If elected, Dicht plans to modernize the Surrogates website to offer a greater array of services to residents, improve community outreach and provide greater transparency.
Each of these Democratic candidates are running out of a desire to serve their communities and give back, while making sure that everyone has a voice in their local or county governments. Supporting them will go a long way toward helping us continue to build our bench and grow our Democratic Party in all 21 counties. At NJDSC, we are committed to that mission and to electing Democrats everywhere in our state.
