Hoosiers,
Back in May, Governor Holcomb detailed Indiana’s four guiding principles – the benchmarks and the data he’s following through the Back on Track plan.
And now that we’re in Stage 5, we wanted to update you on how Indiana’s doing. Indiana’s guiding principles are looking good – and that’s a credit to your hard work.
Here’s where the data stands:
Hospitalizations – Fewer Hoosiers Admitted As you can see, on Sept. 25, 64 Hoosiers were admitted to the hospital for COVID-19 – down from 94 Hoosiers admitted just a month ago. Surge Capacity – Remains Strong From the outset of the pandemic, “flattening the curve” has been all about ensuring our healthcare system doesn’t get overrun and that we have the resources to care for those Hoosiers most in need. Well, on Tuesday, 37% of the state’s ICU beds and 80% of the state’s ventilators were available – and that’s holding steady.
Robust Testing – Available Statewide Governor Holcomb has ensured that any Hoosier who needs a test can get a test. We have 251 active testing sites across Indiana right now. In fact, since May, more than 2 million COVID-19 tests have been administered across Indiana. Contact Tracing – Strong & Continuing to Grow Nearly 700 Hoosiers have stepped up to the plate to be state contact tracers – plus nearly an additional 350 at Indiana’s local health departments. Their work is helping track the spread of this virus – and it’s critical to keeping our economy open safely. Hoosiers, good news continues to come to our state and it’s because of Governor Holcomb’s leadership, and because of your dedication. We’re staying healthy, our economy is bouncing back – and together, we’ll reach even greater heights.
#BackonTrack, -Your Holcomb Crew
P.S. We also heard from Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch about two new grants. If you’re helping lead one of Indiana’s critical meat processing facilities or if you’re a local government leader looking to help Hoosiers with disabilities in your community, make sure to check out these grants!
