On the heels of committee passage of the Boundary Waters protection bill, President Trump announced a new Executive Order to accelerate mine permitting.
Yesterday we celebrated the passage of the bipartisan Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act (HR5598) through the Natural Resources Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
But, our elation was short-lived.
In Duluth last night, Trump again rejected facts, science, and the will of the American people in his push to forever damage the Boundary Waters for the benefit of a foreign mining company.
Trump’s new Executive Order signals an imminent and disastrous threat.

The Trump administration is rushing to weaken the review and permitting process for sulfide-ore mines and bypass critical input from the public. They are using the last weeks before an election to ensure Antofagasta will be a long term threat to the Wilderness.
