We need your help.

Tell Congress that you support welcoming more refugees in Fiscal Year 2021.

Last night, the Administration proposed setting the refugee admissions goal for Fiscal Year 2021 at 15,000 refugees – the lowest admissions in the 40-year history of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. They have failed to consult with Congress, as required by U.S. law, about this goal (also known as the “Presidential Determination” or “PD”) before the start of FY 2021, which is today.

In just four years, this Administration has cut the refugee resettlement program from 110,000 to this new, proposed low of 15,000. At a time of unprecedented global need, the proposal to further cut the refugee admissions ceiling is a complete abdication of our humanitarian and moral duty.

In real terms, this means that families who have already waited years are forced to postpone reunification. It means that thousands who would otherwise find safety on our shores are left to languish in refugee camps, with no end in sight. This heartless proposal is diametrically opposed to our values as a welcoming nation and it dishonors our common humanity at a time of dire need.

There is still time to make your voice heard. Send an email to your legislator through our action center and tell them you strongly condemn a low admissions goal and call for a robust refugee admissions goal of 95,000 in FY21.
