Dear John,
At Tuesday’s debate, Donald Trump spewed a flood of conspiracy theories baselessly claiming mail-in voting fraud. Once again, he refused to promise a peaceful transition of power should he lose the election.
And then last night in Minnesota, he did it again—with a cheering crowd backing him up.
There’s a method to all of Trump's madness: He wants you to believe that voting doesn’t matter.
Donald Trump is an existential threat to American democracy. But the scariest part of all is that he could still win. In the last week, there have been reputable polls showing Trump ahead in Florida, North Carolina, and Arizona, and within 1–2 points in Ohio and Wisconsin. And if the election is anywhere near close, he will claim victory and instigate widespread right-wing violence if necessary to keep himself in office.
This isn’t an election between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. This is about democracy versus fascism.
We’ve built the largest social media following of any progressive organization in the country, and we’re pushing hard from now till Election Day to spread the truth. We need to hand Joe Biden a landslide victory that can’t be ignored or undermined.
Will you please donate to support our work as we ramp up our videos, broadcasts, and posts to debunk Trump’s lies with simple facts and clear rebuttals, providing up-to-the-minute explainers as the news cycle lurches and changes? We all must work to deliver a resounding defeat to Donald Trump, and time is running out.
Yes, I’ll donate for the final push to Election Day. [[link removed]]
If you’re like me, most of the people you’ve talked to since Tuesday night’s debate thought Joe Biden won the debate and that Donald Trump was awful. But it’s time for a reality check. Donald Trump can still win this election.
Election experts say Trump's odds at this point are about one in five, and with stakes this high, that’s way too close. Especially considering Trump pulled out a win after the New York Times gave him a 9% chance of beating Hillary Clinton on this day in 2016.
Trump’s strategy is to discredit the act of voting entirely. He wants to breed cynicism. He wants people to think, “What’s the point, my vote probably won’t be counted anyway.” That’s why he spent so much time pushing nonsensical attacks on the election.
We cannot let him get away with it.
One of Donald Trump’s biggest advantages in this election is that just like in 2016, he has a huge head start on social media, and especially on YouTube. Inequality Media Civic Action has spent the last several years building a massive following on YouTube, Instagram, and other social media channels to match Trump and fight back.
But to keep responding to the breaking news of the moment, we need more staff on call all day everyday, and that means money.
The stakes couldn’t be higher. Please donate whatever you can. Our democracy is counting on it. [[link removed]]
