Picture this, John:

It’s Election Night, and millions of mail-in ballots have yet to be
counted. But, under pressure from the media and the candidates, election
officials in key states declare a winner in their state.

This won’t just throw our Republic into chaos – it’ll prevent voters from
getting to decide who wins the 2020 election.

With President Trump threatening the legitimacy of mail-in ballots, this
nightmare scenario is more likely each day.

Last week, the president refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of
power. He even stated that we must "get rid of ballots" as he spreads
dangerous lies about the legitimacy of mail-in voting. Every day, there’s
more evidence that President Trump appears to be laying the groundwork for
an electoral coup d’etat by disputing mail-in ballots.

Let’s be clear: The president wants you to distrust the results of the
election. Your state election official can restore the voters' trust by
ensuring every vote gets counted. That includes Americans voting by mail,
service members stationed overseas, and those concerned for their health
as COVID-19 continues to spread.

This is the line we need to hold to protect our democracy: All votes must
be counted before a winner is declared.
