Building on our surveys into supermarket plastic use, retail giant Iceland revealed in September its accurate plastic packaging footprint for 2019 as 31,000 tonnes and highlighted concerns that inaccurate reporting from the UK retail sector is obstructing meaningful action on plastic pollution. In the lead up to our third Checking Out on Plastics supermarkets survey, Iceland challenged others to follow its lead and urged the UK Government to introduce mandatory reporting and reduction targets.
