POLITICO is reporting a new pro-Trump super PAC is now giving Donald Trump’s campaign a boost -- spending over $80 million in ads with just weeks to go before Election Day.
Since Trump’s election, the Republican party has solidified control in nearly every branch of government. We’ve seen Trump and his loyalists scrap years of progressive policies -- terrorizing undocumented Americans and communities of color, threatening our health care, advancing a climate crisis, and attacking our most basic human rights. And now, the GOP is working to give Trump another four years to leave our country beyond repair.
We refuse to let that happen. That’s why we’re working every day to turn out voters and elect new, progressive leaders in November who will champion the fight to improve the lives of every American, not just a select few.
But big-pocket Republican donors are funneling behind Trump, and according to POLITICO, Sheldon Adelson, a GOP mega donor, has “a long history of cutting seven- and eight-figure checks to super PACs in the closing months of elections” and, just as it did in 2016, a last minute funding boost could draw voters in critical states to Trump, giving him the election. We need to fight Trump’s funding with grassroots power, but right now, we’re falling short of our fundraising goals.
