McConnell's inaction is irresponsible.

The first bill I supported after entering Congress was a bipartisan effort to expand background checks and prevent gun violence.

More than eight months later, it’s still held up in Mitch McConnell’s Senate. In that time, there have been more mass shootings than days in the year, and recently, another shooting in Odessa and Midland, Texas, was added to this terrible and growing list of tragedies.

McConnell’s inaction in the Senate is irresponsible. We need to demand action by gathering 10,000 signers before our end-of-quarter deadline. Add your name now →

It was an assault-style weapon that killed seven people in Odessa and Midland just over a week ago. As a veteran, I’m qualified as an expert on the M16, an assault-style weapon. Plain and simple: They’re weapons of war. They’re designed to kill as many people as possible in as short amount of time as possible. They don’t belong on our streets. Period.

I’ve been talking about this issue since day one, and I won’t stop talking about it until we get common-sense gun-safety laws on the books. We can’t back down or give up. We have to remain laser-focused.

I’m calling on McConnell to take action now to prevent future gun violence. Add your name before our end-of-quarter deadline, because I can’t do this without you →

Thank you,

Mikie
