“Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex.”

Sounds reasonable, right?

I think so, and that's why I support Florida voting to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment. It's 2019, and this should have been done a century ago if not before; it's time we make equality for all the law of the land.

This past week, I was proud to see my friends Mariella Smith, Pat Kemp, and Kim Overman pass a resolution whereby Hillsborough County joined others around the state to support passage of the ERA. My friends Betty Castor and Rena Frasier lent their voices to the fight and now we're one step closer to passage.

37 other states have already ratified the Amendment; Florida could be the 38th and final vote needed to add equal protection for women to the U.S. Constitution.

Help send me to Tallahassee and I'll see that we do.
