What we witnessed at last night’s debate confirmed that Donald Trump will stop at nothing to stay in power, friends. This is serious: He will make false claims about mail-in ballots, he will refuse to condemn white supremacists, he will order the Proud Boys to “stand by,” he will spew pure fiction about his failed record on health care, and he will even decline to commit to a peaceful transfer of power when he loses the election.

And the terrifying part is that Republicans won’t do a single thing about it. They refuse to hold this dangerous, corrupt, racist, xenophobic, Constitution-destroying president accountable. Trump has a whole slate of right-wing candidates running for federal, state, and local offices who are fully on board with his hateful agenda. Not to mention they have special interests and dark money pouring in to help them win.

We’re organizing like never before to get out the vote to defeat Trump and his backers while electing strong progressives in swing states and across the country. That’s why meeting our final end-of-quarter goal before the election is so critically important. This mandatory deadline will happen at midnight tonight — and the second it passes, Republicans will be looking to see if we had what it took or if we fell short.

At this moment, we’re still running $6,029 short of our $400,000 goal to afford the resources necessary to fuel our new Our Power, Our Country, Our Vote organizing program. The harsh truth is that falling short of our goal means contacting fewer voters at a time when it matters most.

As a lifelong organizer, I refuse to run a typical get-out-the-vote program, friends. Instead, our incredible force of volunteers are deep-canvassing — taking the time to truly connect with voters, to listen, and to make the persuasive case for why electing bold, progressive candidates will result in a government that finally puts people first. This kind of canvassing is 32 times more effective than traditional phone-banking! But it requires more time and more volunteers — which requires more grassroots resources.
