The CDC recommends that adults get outdoors for 150-300 minutes a week and that kids get outdoors for 60 minutes a day. Between wildfires, COVID-19, and long standing barriers to nature access, that isn’t possible right now. Connecting with nature can mean so many different things -- taking a walk in your neighborhood, creating a watercolor of your favorite outdoor scene, or propagating seeds and cuts from veggies or herbs to create your own garden.
Speaking of gardening our friend Megan Kelley of @tropical_commons will be hosting a gardening tutorial on Instagram TV! Megan will walk us through how to create a garden for free. You’ll need an Instagram account to access the tutorial and it will take place at 10 AM ET on Saturday, October 3. Simply sign onto Megan’s Instagram (@tropical_commons) on Saturday to join. We’ll share a link to the recording if you aren’t able to make it at that time.
The money we’re raising together will support programs like Nearby Nature and Military Outdoors, initiatives dedicated to helping people experience the healing power of nature.
Join The Outdoors Effectto help bring nature to everyone while committing to connecting to it yourself.
