Dear John,
Donald Trump wants three things from Amy Coney Barrett, and he wants them now.
First, Trump wants her promise to validate the election he intends to steal. Barrett has already said she won’t recuse herself from cases involving the 2020 election.
Second, he wants her to dismantle the Affordable Care Act in the midst of a global pandemic that has killed over 200,000 Americans. A case to do just that will come before the Court one week after the election—and the makeup of the Court will be the deciding factor.
And third, Trump promised to only name justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade, and he has already seated two justices who voted against abortion rights in a recent 5-4 case. The late Justice Ginsburg voted with the majority, helping keep our abortion rights in place.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a role model of equality and justice—but Amy Coney Barrett would reverse that legacy and turn back the clock on women’s rights. We didn’t expect an all-out Supreme Court battle but here we are—with lots to do and not much time to get it done!
