Wow.

Last night’s first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden was incredibly hard to watch.

Not only did Trump refuse to play by the rules agreed to by his campaign and constantly interrupt both Joe and the moderator, he spewed dangerous lies about everything from suing to repeal the Affordable Care Act to his false claims of voter fraud.

The president completely lacked morality, personally attacking Joe’s family while the Vice President spoke of his late son Beau, who courageously served overseas and fought for justice as Delaware’s attorney general before succumbing to his battle with cancer.

And what was most startling to me, and should startle every American, is the fact that Trump was point-blank asked to condemn white supremacy on this national stage. He refused.

Instead, Trump encouraged a Nazi-alligned white supremacist group to “stand by.” Stand by for what?

When asked if he would encourage peace if the election results are delayed, he told his far-right base to go to the polls and watch people. That’s voter intimidation, plain and simple. And we’ve already heard reports of Trump supporters threatening people at the polls since early voting began.

We’ve always known President Trump was dangerous, but last night made it clear just how much. He must be defeated.

Today, we’re only 34 days away from the election, and less than 12 hours away from our final end-of-quarter FEC fundraising deadline of this campaign. Now is the time to ensure we have the resources to get out the vote over these last five weeks and deliver Trump a decisive defeat.
