Transitioning Florida To Safe Energy Policy Statewide

Next week, join Our Children’s Trust and Evolved Energy Research (EER) for the launch of a groundbreaking report prepared by energy experts that introduces accessible, systemic, and economically feasible strategies to rapidly transition Florida off fossil fuels and toward climate stabilization.

Florida is our nation’s third most populous state. Florida also ranked third highest in our nation for greenhouse gas emissions. This report offers a roadmap for making Florida first in the nation for energy system revitalization and renewal energy adoption. The lessons here can serve as an inspiration and example for states across our nation.

Join us on Thursday, October 8th at 12pm PDT / 3pm EDT to learn all about this report - “350 PPM Pathways for Florida” - which presents a detailed new roadmap for positioning Florida to significantly reduce its carbon footprint and the dangerous impacts of the climate crisis - from sea level rise and coastal flooding to extreme heat and increasingly frequent hurricanes - caused by today’s rapidly increasing emissions. This report is the first of its kind to illustrate several low carbon technically and economically sound energy pathways for Florida consistent with returning atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2)  to 350 parts per million (ppm) by 2100, which scientists say is necessary to avoid the most dangerous effects of climate change. The new report is a crucial tool to inform statewide energy system decisions.

Not in Florida? This study may be focused on the Sunshine State but it provides revolutionary new data and strategies that can potentially be implemented from coast to coast, including data-driven scenarios and timelines for long-term energy system redevelopment as well as tools to inform statewide energy policy and decision-making. Join us to learn more about the findings in this report for Florida and encourage leaders in your state to explore viable pathways to transition your energy systems away from fossil fuels.

Register here to join us online on October 8th!

Thank you for your ongoing support of Our Children’s Trust. Today, we need this support more than ever as we continue our urgent work of representing and supporting young people in climate mitigation legal action around the world, including from coast to coast in North America - from the youth plaintiffs we represent in Florida, to the Juliana 21, to the young Canadians, supported by Our Children's Trust, who are headed to court today and tomorrow

Please make a donation today to directly support these efforts of Our Children’s Trust to secure the legal rights of our planet’s youth to a stable climate.

With gratitude,

The Team at Our Children’s Trust

P.S. This study builds upon research conducted in 2019 by EER and the Sustainability Development Solutions Network (SDSN) which outlined multiple technically and economically feasible pathways to transition the United States off of fossil fuels.
