[1]Beto for America
So John, good or bad news first?
Ok, here goes:
* Good news: Beto has more field offices and staff than most candidates.
We’re in a REALLY good position heading into the first contests next
year.
* Bad news: We’ve just been chatting with the legal team about all the
hoops you have to jump through to get on the ballot in all 50 states +
all the territories. YIKES -- there are so many crazy rules! Lawyers
mirite? If we don’t do everything exactly right, Beto might not be
able to get his name on the ballot in each state.
John, this is
where you come in! We’re launching a “Get Beto on the Ballot” fund. The
money goes toward collecting signatures to qualify, paying fees in each
state, and paying for the legal expertise we need to navigate the rules.
It’s going to cost us about $265,000, which sounds scary. BUT if everyone
reading this email gives like one dollar, we could raise that in just a
few hours.
[ [link removed] ]Can you chip in towards the fund right now? Either give just a dollar,
or give a bit more to make up for the people who can’t.

If you think I’m kidding about how hard it is to make the ballot in every
state, you don’t have to look very far back to find examples of all sorts
of leading candidates who failed to qualify in a certain state. The rules
are so complex, and there’s a different set of requirements in just about
every state and territory. It’s a mess.
Ok — so $265,000. Can we get there today? Or this week maybe? Let’s find
out.

Thanks as always for all your help.
