Ed led the fight to make sure climate change was discussed at last night’s presidential debate. We won, and for 11 minutes, the candidates were asked about the climate crisis. This is why we need Ed leading the fight in the Senate, and if you agree, please make a donation to our campaign before tonight’s FEC deadline.

Donald Trump was a disgrace and an embarrassment to our country during last night’s debate.

The President refused to condemn white supremacists, because he is one.

But there was a bright spot for our movement: We forced the moderator and candidates to have a discussion about climate change. That it happened is a testament to Ed Markey’s leadership.

Last week when Chris Wallace released his topics for the debate, the climate crisis was not on that list. It was sadly unsurprising because, in all three of the 2016 presidential debates, the moderators failed to ask a question about climate change.

Instead of agonizing about the omissions, Ed organized. He helped spearhead an effort to demand that the moderators of the 2020 debates ask about climate change, and 36 of his Senate colleagues joined him.

Last night, we were heard, and climate change was added to the debate. The contrast between the candidates could not have been clearer. In those 11 minutes, we saw only one candidate take the problem seriously: Joe Biden. Joe committed once again to prioritizing and passing the most ambitious climate legislation that our government has ever considered.

Biden wants to invest trillions to address the climate crisis, create millions of good-paying jobs in clean energy, and upgrade our nation’s infrastructure. It will finally put us on a path toward saving our planet and rebuilding our economy after the coronavirus.

Ed Markey has been the leader on comprehensive climate legislation in Congress, and he will lead the fight to pass the most progressive plan possible when we elect Joe Biden — bold legislation that addresses this crisis at the scale it demands and centers justice for frontline communities.

To make this vision a reality, we must re-elect Ed Markey and take back the White House, and that’s where we need your support — especially before tonight’s official FEC deadline.

Will you please make a $3 donation to our campaign before tonight’s FEC deadline? Your support will allow our organizing team to do critical work reaching infrequent and undecided voters in Massachusetts and in swing states across the country to make sure that we elect Joe Biden and a Democratic Senate.

The stakes have never been higher. Electing Joe Biden is the only shot we have at saving our planet. Our team is doing everything we can to make that happen. And when we do it, Ed Markey will be the one to lead the fight for bold climate action in the United States Senate.

The only way any of this is possible is with your support, so thank you for making a donation.
