A shocking new report has just come in: Last week, the House Oversight Committee released documents that “reveal a widespread failure to provide necessary medical care to detainees” so horrific that it resulted in the deaths of several detainees. At the same time, a completely separate report from the House Homeland Security Committee found that detention center operators have shown “an indifference to the mental and physical care of the migrants in their custody.” Examples of this callousness include threatening solitary confinement as punishment for asking for medical assistance and downplaying the seriousness of suicide attempts.
We cannot grow numb to these atrocities, friend. They should only strengthen our resolve to fight for our country’s most vulnerable, hold our elected officials accountable, and vote out anyone who permits such egregious human rights violations on American soil.
