It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2020 United Nations International Older Persons' Day? edition of the Age Friendly Bulletin.?The day is celebrated across the world every 1st October.??

Although we are not able to meet in person to celebrate this important day in Nottingham, we would like to ask you to make an older person?s day by visiting (socially distanced of course!) or phoning them.? We would also like to request your assistance in eradicating the negative perceptions that have increased during COVID. The media focus of all older people being frail and needing special support is increasing stigma and discrimination against the majority who make considerable contributions to their local communities and wider society.? We ask that you join Age Friendly Nottingham in spreading the word on this day that older residents in Nottingham are

?Valuable not Vulnerable?

However you celebrate, I hope that you enjoy this special day.

Councillor Eunice Campbell-Clark
Nottingham?s Age Friendly Nottingham Champion
