DEADLINE: Now is the time to protect election integrity. View this email in your browser [[link removed]]Dear Friend — I can imagine that many people are asking
for your time and attention these days, so I’ll make this quick.
In the wake of yesterday's presidential debate, which included a thinly veiled
white supremacist call to arms and dangerous rhetoric by the president about
voter fraud associated with vote by mail, our voter protection work is more
crucial than ever.
We are more than halfway there but need your help to reach the $50,000 challenge
goal. If you haven't already, please donate today
[[link removed]] — even a small gift can go twice as far to protect the vote, mobilize, and
support all of our work during this critical time. Thank you.

Dear Friend,
At the heart of our faith is the example of Jesus, who rejected all forms of oppression . This election year, oppression is taking the form of voter suppression,
especially of people in the most marginalized places who are already seeing
disproportionate health and economic impacts of COVID-19.
A series of tactics — including sabotage of the U.S. Postal Service,
disinformation campaigns, the threat of failure to timely count mail-in ballots,
and voter intimidation tactics — threaten to alter the outcome of the election.
These tactics directly affect the elderly, students, immigrants, and Black and
brown voters. They are modern-day forms of voter suppression. And sadly, use of
these tactics is growing. We are calling on every person of faith to take a stand and ensure that we have a safe, free, and fair election.
We are recruiting and deploying pastors and church-based lawyers to protect the
election at polling sites in states most at risk — including North Carolina,
Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Alabama, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Ohio
— through a network of state leaders, congregations, and community volunteers.
With a series of webinars, Facebook live events, social media campaigns, and
strategy calls, we’re mobilizing voters all across the U.S., but we need your
help in these last few weeks to make the most impact possible.
Thanks to a generous donor, all donations will be doubled, up to $50,000, for a
limited time.

The right to vote in this nation was won through struggle, but inequity
persists. We still see structural barriers to housing, health care, employment,
education, and other vital quality-of-life services. Our broken criminal justice
system has decimated communities. Horrifying acts of racial violence and police
brutality continue.
This is why we all must vote – and why we must protect the vote. Never before
have we needed the faith community to come together as we do now, to make sure that every person created in the image of God can
participate in our democracy.
This year it is crucial to protect the right to vote and combat misinformation.
That is why we are educating, mobilizing, and organizing every day leading up to the election – and preparing now to respond to election outcomes.
By donating to the matching gift challenge today

understand how to vote this year or who may be met with unexpected voter
suppression tactics when they try to cast their ballots.
Thank you for supporting Sojourners’ commitment to truth-telling nonprofit
journalism, faith-rooted advocacy, and articulating the biblical call to social
justice — and training others to do the same!
With gratitude,
Beth Cooper-Chrismon, Sojourners
