John, stop me if you've heard this one before:

A political newcomer with a background in health care runs in a district that has long been considered a Republican stronghold, but they run a campaign that speaks to the issues and lifts up the experiences of everyday people. This political newcomer has gained so much momentum, that political forecasters believe they have a chance to flip their seat from red to blue.

That's what happened when I successfully ran for Congress in 2018, and I see so much of my experience in Dr. Cameron Webb's race today.

Personally, I know that the final stretch is when things matter the most. It's when our opponents throw their most desperate attacks at us. It's when efforts to turn out the vote go into overdrive.

Our country desperately needs more individuals in office who are willing to listen to the constituents and follow the scientific data to help serve their communities. Our communities deserve responsive leaders that understand their needs and are willing to fight for their rights in Congress. Cameron will be one of those leaders.

His experience helping patients face-to-face means that he understands the human stakes of our policy battles. He will bring their stories and their priorities into the halls of Congress — and he'll make sure others listen.
