John,

I've gotta be honest with you. Running for Congress isn't always easy. In fact, it's usually pretty grueling.

From countering Republican smear attacks to competing against special interest dollars -- not to mention the toll it takes on my family -- campaigning is no walk in the park.

But I'll never back down from this fight -- and I'm going to tell you why. But first, we have our most important fundraising deadline yet at midnight, and I need to ask you to chip in $5 or more right now if we're going to hit our goal.

I'm in this race for my daughters, who looked around after the 2016 election and wondered how a man who admitted to assaulting women could be elected president. Who started to lose hope that women, LGBTQ Americans, and people of color would ever be treated equally in this country. I'm running because my girls needed me to step up and work to make this country better for them.

I'm in it for my mom, who was a single parent after escaping domestic abuse, graduated from community college, and became a nurse, only to get sick when she couldn't afford her own insulin. I'm running because health care is a human right -- and no one should have to see their loved one get sick when there's a treatment that can help.

I'm in it for the kids in our public schools, who deserve the best quality education we can give them -- regardless of their zip code -- because I know that education is the pathway to building a better future. I'm running because the most powerful nation in the world should have the world's best public schools.

I'm in it for those of us who believe in reproductive choice, in voting rights, and equality under the law. I'm running because these rights are on the line in this year's elections, and we must protect them.

I'm in this race all the way to Capitol Hill, because this is an election we cannot afford to lose -- and because I refuse to let my kids, my neighbors, or you down.

This is the fight of our lives, John. Are you with me? Chip in $5 or more before our last end-of-quarter deadline at midnight tonight.

Let's go win this thing,

Christy
