Yesterday, a right wing-extremist publicly called for Representative Ilhan Omar’s “execution.”
This hateful and dangerous call to violence against a sitting member of Congress and my sister-in-service comes on the heels of increasing attacks on Ilhan from hate-filled, neo-fascist groups, emboldened by the occupant of the White House.
Ilhan is a fierce fighter for the bold, progressive policies our communities need. I know she won’t be intimidated or deterred, but it’s up to us to show that we have her back in this struggle.
Right-wing extremists, the GOP, and the occupant of the White House are scared of Ilhan, because she’s working every day to upend the status quo that is leaving too many of our communities behind — and because they are scared of powerful women, especially powerful Black and brown women. That’s why they keep attacking her with vitriolic hate-filled conspiracy theories.
The occupant of the White House is going to Minnesota today to try and flip the state red, and I’m sure he’ll once again attack Ilhan while he’s in her home state.
