Dear supporter,

We’ve been sounding the alarm bells for months now that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau could spend your tax dollars on a floating park in Toronto. This reckless plan is now one step closer to becoming an expensive reality.

Toronto Mayor John Tory is planning to build a park on a platform in the airspace above the busy rail corridor leading into the city’s downtown. It’s a complicated project that would cost billions, so the mayor’s got his hands out to Ottawa.

The federal government just announced in its throne speech that it will “work with municipalities as part of a new commitment to expand urban parks.” This fits hand-in-glove with Toronto’s reckless plan, and we know the prime minister loves to dote on that city.

Parks are important, but $3.8 billion is an outrageous cost. That’s over a billion dollars more than the Ontario government spent revitalizing Sick Kids hospital!

And get this: Toronto Mayor John Tory wants to build the park high up in the air as a vanity project which is making the cost balloon. Taxpayers can’t afford this.

What about all the taxpayers from Moncton to Medicine Hat who didn’t vote for Trudeau or Toronto’s mayor? Why should they have to pay for this literal pie-in-the-sky scheme?
