John,
When COVID-19 first started to spread across the world, for most people it seemed far away, something that wouldn't be affecting us here. But at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, we knew that sooner or later, the virus would be here. And when it got here, we would need to be ready.
During my fellowship, I studied viruses like COVID-19 for moments just like this, and I came here because I wanted to do meaningful work to help protect kids who are the most vulnerable to this type of pandemic. That's why we developed a plan to tackle the obstacles we knew the novel coronavirus would throw at us. We started by ordering testing kits and PPE for all our staff. For the past few months, we've been performing COVID-19 tests 24 hours a day. We're keeping our coworkers, staff, and most importantly, our patients and their families safe.
We were able to do that because we had the resources to prepare for when we would need them most. As this crisis continues, we need to keep those resources coming. Can you help with a gift? If you give to the Children's Fund today, your gift will be doubled, up to $100,000, thanks to a special matching gift.
We are seeing more patients every day that desperately need our support. COVID-19 is making conditions worse for those in need of medical care, especially children. Many families have been hit hard by the economic impact of this disease, but their kids need care just the same. And since there is still much work to be done, these difficulties aren't going away any time soon.
Right now, you can make a difference that will make an even bigger impact for the children we serve. Make a donation to the Children's Fund today and it will go twice as far to help children get the care they need in this critical time.
With the support of people like you, we are doing all that we can. In fact, my colleagues and I are working on research right now that will help us track the spread of COVID-19 by studying mutations that happen during transmission. I'm so grateful that we were able to get ahead of the curve early, but we're not out of the woods yet—and we need to keep that support coming. Please give to the Children's Fund today.
Thank you for all that you do for our kids. I know that the work I do saves lives everyday—and I also know that I couldn't do it without you.
I hope you and your family are staying safe in this time.
Sincerely,
|
