Yesterday, I spoke to New Hampshire Democrats at their state convention alongside the other presidential candidates. My speech was extremely well-received because, although I am considered "late" in entering the race, my message is extremely timely : "Unaccountable leadership is responsible for the lack of trust in America's politicians today... Mr. Trump is not the problem, he is a symptom of the problem."

I told New Hampshire Democrats: "I wore the cloth of our country for 31 years in war and in peace. It's where I learnt integrity's values: service to country, to others above self, with accountability in answering for oneself."

Healing our nation and uniting Americans again was key to the unique message I delivered to the New Hampshire Democratic Party Convention: "We have no choice - we must have a President who can heal our nation’s soul, because people trust him, even when disagreeing well, because they know he will be accountable to them , above party, above self, above any special interest."

And I let them know my military service also served as a key to why I'm running — my unique understanding of the challenges a President and Commander-in-Chief must face: "I also entered this race for another very different reason. I never forgot that those Democrats and Republicans alike who voted for that tragic war in Iraq didn't understand that militaries can stop a problem, but they can't fix a problem."

I am now meeting the wonderful people in New Hampshire -- after our focus on the tremendous state of Iowa over the past weeks -- and am speaking at about four events a day to get this timely message of trust and unity out so our nation can move forward again.
