AFT

Friend,

America is keeping children in cages and families in detention camps at the border.

The damage that’s being done to these kids is unimaginable. The cruelty and inhumanity of these camps should be unacceptable in America. And since the AFT is having a conference with more than a thousand educators in Washington, D.C., we’ve decided to do something about it.

I want to invite you to join me, AFT members from around the country, and other community members, for a protest on Friday outside the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office.

On Friday from noon to 1 p.m., we’ll rally outside Customs and Border Protection and demand that it end the detention camps.

It’s not just that we are a nation of immigrants—we are also a nation of decency that lifts up our children.

We must hold our government accountable for these atrocities, and that starts with standing up and speaking out. We can’t let these camps be the new normal.

In unity,
Randi Weingarten
AFT President

P.S.: On Friday night we’ll join a vigil at Lafayette Square, outside the White House. I hope to see you there.
