Dear John,
Tomorrow, the Trump administration is supposed to decide on the future of refugee resettlement in the U.S.
There are growing concerns that refugee resettlement will be further reduced or eliminated altogether.
Here’s the problem: both of these options jeopardize the future of countless refugees, weaken our standing in the world, undermine America’s moral obligation, and harm cities and towns that depend on the contributions of refugees.
That’s why we need to make it clear that we stand with refugees and demand that refugees don’t get zeroed out.
For decades, the U.S. has been a global leader in refugee resettlement. We’ve welcomed those fleeing persecution and war, providing them a safe haven and helping them build a new life.
Some of these refugees are the frontline workers you see today, contributing to keep us healthy and nourished during this unsettling time -- they are the doctors, nurses, food packers, farmers, and more, working to get us through this pandemic and help our economy recover.
Refugees are on the frontlines, working alongside us during this pandemic -- but now, they need supporters like you to show you’re standing with them when it counts most.
Our communities are safer and healthier when all of us stand together -- and today, we can show that support for our refugee neighbors.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Ali Noorani
